DREADMOOR Trawler Upgrades
Slots, modules, and the torn-page budget at the dry dock.
The trawler in DREADMOOR is upgraded through a slot-based modular system installed at dry docks (also called boathouses). Each module is a physical object that you carry to its slot, then install by pressing F over the green hologram preview; the empty slot bar shows what the slot currently provides.
- Slots
- Engine, Propeller, Hull Armor
- Install action
- Press F over the slot hologram
- Currency
- Torn pages, shared with fishing unlocks
Slots and installation
- Sail to the dry dock at a settlement and dock the trawler.
- Carry the module out of storage and onto the deck.
- Stand over the green hologram of the target slot.
- Press F to install the module and watch the slot bar update.
Three confirmed slot types exist on the demo build: Engine, Propeller, and Hull Armor. The slot family is what determines what kinds of modules you will see in the dock's catalogue.
Cost and currency
Every module costs torn pages, the same currency used by the Fishing Skill Tree. New modules are bought or unlocked with torn pages, then carried and slotted, not applied through a menu. Torn pages are a finite budget shared between fishing unlocks and ship unlocks, so the next module to chase is the one that unblocks the next expedition.
Module catalogue
Confirmed slot families and modules include:
- Hull Armor slot — Mk I modules such as Armored Hull Protection. See the hull reinforcement guide for the trade-off and stacking order.
- Engine slot — Heavy-Duty Engine is the first speed upgrade after leaving the lagoon. See the engine and propeller upgrade guide for the slot split and the fuel cost.
- Propeller slot — Prototype Propeller is the headline module for manoeuvrability.
- Broader family — fuel canister rack, spotlight, and afterburner modules are mentioned in store copy as additional modules in the same slot family once their costs land.
The trawler also wears out between expeditions, so repairs compete with upgrades for the same torn-page pool. Plan storage and hull upgrades before chasing speed — a fast boat with no cargo is stranded on long runs.
Hull Armor slot
The first real trade-off in the upgrade tree shows up at the Hull Armor slot. An empty slot gives you 25 armor at full trawler speed, while a module like Armored Hull Protection lifts armor to 150 but drops top speed to roughly 3 knots. Treat hull as the first big decision because every rare-fish run passes near mutated creature patrols on the way to the deeper zones. For the full numbers and the stacking order, see the DREADMOOR hull reinforcement guide.
FAQ
What currency is shared between fishing and ship upgrades?
Torn pages are the shared currency for both the Fishing Skill Tree and the Ship Upgrade Skill Tree in DREADMOOR, so unlocks compete for the same finite pool.
